Wellness Exams for Pets in Fort Mill

Here at Palmetto Pet Hospital, we want your pet to be healthy and live a long, happy life, just like you do. After all, pets are family! That’s why we recommend preventive care in the form of cat and dog vaccinations and wellness exams. By bringing your pet in at least once a year for a wellness exam, you can be proactive about health issues that commonly affect pets. These include gum disease, obesity, and thyroid issues. For senior pets, we typically recommend bi-annual wellness exams, due to the many changes and added health risks that come with age. Call us at 803-547-8191 to schedule an appointment.

About Your Pet’s Wellness Exam

At your pet’s wellness visit, we’ll conduct a comprehensive nose-to-tail examination, and make note of any areas of concern, if any. We can then either discuss treatment options or recommend advanced diagnostics (blood testing, X-rays, etc.). We can also provide dietary counseling, so please let us know if you have any questions about your pet’s diet. If your pet has allergies, we can conduct food trials to determine if their current diet is the cause.

Another form of counseling we can provide is behavioral, so please let us know if you’ve noticed aggression or accidents in the house. If necessary, we can schedule a separate counseling visit or refer you to someone else who can help.

Cat and Dog Vaccinations in Fort Mill, SC

Vaccinations should be included in every pet’s wellness plan, and they should be updated every 1-3 years. Just as vaccines do for humans, cat and dog vaccines provide protection against several viruses and diseases. We’ll develop a vaccination schedule that’s catered to your pet’s specific needs, with consideration to age, breed, and lifestyle. The following is a list of some of the core (essential) and non-core (optional) vaccines we offer for dogs and cats:

  • Rabies (core)
